We wrote this song for the 1998 PA summer reading theme, about the adventures on which reading can take you. See below for additional verses not included on the CD.

I followed on the heels of a rabbit falling through a hole in the ground. A magical, mystical world was there Where the Queen and Mad Hatter were found. I grew so tall and shrunk so small with Alice as my faithful guide. The Cheshire Cat, he made me laugh so hard that I almost cried.
(Chorus)
I took a ride on a magic school bus which turned into a spotted frog. A heron almost carried us away but we hopped onto a log. Suddenly I went back in time to when dinosaurs ruled the land. Allosaurus and Triceratops walked heavy on the sand.
(Chorus)
The Cat in the Hat came to my place. He flew ‘round the house at such speed. He turned things around and upside down. What a great adventure to read. He made a big mess, but he cleaned it up. I tell you he’s a really cool cat. We had lots of fun and when he was done he gave me this incredible hat.

(Additional verses:) I followed on the heels of a hobbit, who ventured from his cozy hole. We traveled with a wizard and 13 dwarves, to recover their stolen gold. We battled with trolls and goblins, and were captured by the wood elf king. We helped defeat the dragon, Smaug, with the help of a magic ring.
I won a trip to a chocolate factory, inside a Willie Wonka chocolate bar. I listened to the Oompa-loompas, and they told me I was sure to go far. The other kids were greedy and selfish, and they disappeared, one by one. But I kept my head, and I followed my heart, and I had a lot of good, clean fun.
I went with a boy named Harold, and he had his purple crayon, too. He made lots of amazing pictures, and he could step into whatever he drew. He drew a tall cliff, and a hot air balloon, and a boat on the ocean so deep. And when his adventures had tired him out, he drew a bed so he could go to sleep.
I went with Jack and Annie on adventures through time and space. We traveled in a Magic Treehouse. We could go just about any place. We visited lots of countries. There's so much in the world to see. We helped people out whenever we could, and sometimes we made history!
