This Old Rocking Chair

Lyrics: David wrote this lullaby when our sons were little, and we recorded a new version for our "Family Album" CD.
When I was little, when I was small
That old rocking chair used to seem ten feet tall
And I looked forward to the end of the day
When my mom or dad would sit there and say:
(Chorus:)
Come take a ride in this old rocking chair
Come sit by my side, and tug on my hair
I'll tell you a story, I'll sing you a song
in this old rocking chair.
As I grew older, that chair would become
all of the things in my imagination
Sometimes a place to drive my matchbox-cars
Sometimes a space-ship, blasting off to Mars
(Chorus)
Now I am bigger, now I am grown
Now I have two little babes of my own
And there is one thing I do love to see
When those two little boys come and climb up on me
(Chorus)
We sit in this chair and I sing you to sleep
'Till I put you down, and you can dream deep
Someday this chair and I, we'll both be gone
But we'll still be there, whenever you sing this song
(Chorus)
When I was little, when I was small
That old rocking chair used to seem ten feet tall
And I looked forward to the end of the day
When my mom or dad would sit there and say:
(Chorus:)
Come take a ride in this old rocking chair
Come sit by my side, and tug on my hair
I'll tell you a story, I'll sing you a song

Sometimes a space-ship, blasting off to Mars
