Lyrics: After hearing "Girls Who Rock the
World", our sons Ari and Jason convinced us to write a "boy"
version. They asked us, "why isn’t there a 'Boys Who Rock the
World’ song?" We went into a long answer, all about how girls and
women have been left out of the history books for so long, etc.
When we had finished our monologue, Ari & Jason looked up at us and
asked, "but why isn’t there a 'Boys Who Rock the World’ song?"
There is also a book called "Boys Who Rocked the World" (Beyond Words
Publishing, Inc.).
(Chorus:)
Whoah, whoah, whoah - Boys who rock the world (2x)
Louis Braille was just 15
when his language rocked the world
At a school for the blind, and he created a code
He was a boy who rocked the world.
He invented a system of dots
that changed the way blind people were taught
Louis Braille brought reading to the blind
He was a boy who rocked the world.
(Chorus)
Frederick Douglass was 17
when his defiance rocked the world
The slave masters could not break his will
He was a boy who rocked the world.
He taught himself how to read and write
The freedom struggle was his life-long fight
Frederick Douglass spoke his mind
He was a boy who rocked the world.
(Chorus)
Chico Mendes was just 15
when his protests rocked the world
He protected the rainforest in Brazil
He was a boy who rocked the world
He faced the loggers’ guns, unarmed
to shield the workers and trees from harm
Chico Mendes gave his life for the cause
He was a boy who rocked the world.
(Chorus)
The Beatles all were in their teens
when their music rocked the world
They wrote songs that everybody knows
They were boys who rocked the world
With Sgt. Pepper’s and Rubber Soul
They changed the sound of rock and roll
The Beatles’ influence still is heard
They were boys who rocked the world
(Chorus)
(Bridge:)
Albert Einstein, Jesse Owens, Mozart, Picasso
Boys who rocked the world
Crazy Horse, Edison, Mandela, Galileo
Boys who rocked the world.
(Tag:)
Whether you are a boy or a girl,
How will you rock the world?
(Final Chorus:)
Whoah, whoah - How will you rock the world? (4x)
