Lyrics: Jenny found this poem by Carolyn E. Kinel in the Cousteau Society's "Dolphin Log" magazine, changed it around a bit, and we turned it into this song. Carolyn was very nice about giving us permission.
(Chorus:) (counter-melody:)
Underneath the deep blue sea Underneath the sea
Lies a world of mystery Lies a world of mystery
Searching 'round the oceans wide 'round the oceans wide
There's a place where treasures hide where treasures hide
Underneath the deep blue ocean
Tossing, swaying water's motion
Ocean canyons, coves and nooks
Quite enough for a thousand books
(Chorus)
Ocean canyons, deep and dim
where many fish and mammals swim
If I could ride a whale's humpback,
I don't think I'd ever come back
(Chorus)
Travel far around the world
to watch the pretty sea unfurled
Finding treasures down so deep
for a lucky diver's keep
(Chorus)
Oh, but now I see a ship -
Goodbye to this fantastic trip!
(Chorus:) (counter-melody:)
Underneath the deep blue sea Underneath the sea
Lies a world of mystery Lies a world of mystery
Searching 'round the oceans wide 'round the oceans wide
There's a place where treasures hide where treasures hide
Underneath the deep blue ocean
Tossing, swaying water's motion
Ocean canyons, coves and nooks
Quite enough for a thousand books
(Chorus)
Ocean canyons, deep and dim
where many fish and mammals swim
If I could ride a whale's humpback,
I don't think I'd ever come back
(Chorus)
Travel far around the world
to watch the pretty sea unfurled
Finding treasures down so deep
for a lucky diver's keep
(Chorus)
Oh, but now I see a ship -
Goodbye to this fantastic trip!
